Russell Mohberg, MBA, CFP®

Co-founder, Managing Partner & Co-CIO

Russell is a Co-founder of Regatta Capital Group, a Managing Partner, and serves as the Co-Chief Investment Officer. As the Chair of the firm’s Investment Committee, he listens to clients’ needs and preferences and searches the investible universe – across the risk/reward spectrum and the public/private divide – for the best solutions.

Prior to working in the wealth management industry, Russell was an industrial designer specializing in medical device development. His work in cerebral resuscitation devices led to a position with a venture capital firm in Los Angeles in 1998. During this same time, he completed his MBA in finance at the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University.

Russell has served as the personal CFO for many families over the last 15 years. This gives him a unique perspective as Regatta’s Chief Investment Officer. He often states that “portfolios are not simply numbers on a page and theoretical experiments – these are peoples’ lives that need to be protected and built”. Russell employs a balance of prudence and risk taking, analytics and street smarts.

Russell was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan and received his B.S. in industrial design from California State University at Long Beach. After his MBA, he added a professional designation in personal financial planning from UCLA and became a certified financial planner. He and his darling wife Laura, and son Evan, reside in Rolling Hills Estates, CA.

Outside of the office, Russell enjoys competitive distance running and downhill skiing with his son in destinations such as Telluride, Sun Valley and Park City.
